Yes, a valid passport and visa is required to visit India. India offers an electronic tourist visa on arrival (TVoA). Applicants can apply online a minimum of four days in advance of the date of arrival with a window of 30 days. For example if you applying on 1st October, then you can select the arrival date from 5th October to 4th November. The application fee is 60$. TVoA is valid for entry at 9 designated ports which include – Trivandrum, Kolkata, Chennai, Cochin, Delhi, Goa, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Mumbai. The process is valid for single entry and the visa will be valid till 30 days from the date of arrival in India. For more information, please visit the India Electronic Travel Authorization. If your trip exceeds beyond 30 days or if you plan to re-enter India after visiting other destinations, you will need to complete an application.
It all depends on your chosen destination and the time of visit. A large part of India has warm and tropical climate which means hot during the day and pleasant in the evenings.
