All foreign nationals (except those belonging to the state of Nepal and Bhutan) need a visa to enter India.
Tourist visa for India is only issued to the people who wish to visit the country for any of the following purposes:
• Recreation
• Sight-Seeing
• Causal Meeting with Friends and Relatives

A traveller holding tourist visa is not allowed to undertake any other activities. The Tourist Visa is neither extendable, nor convertible.

For the residents of certain countries, including Cambodia, Finland, Japan, Laos, Luxembourg, Myanmar, New Zealand, Philippines, Singapore and Vietnam, Tourist-Visa-On-Arrival can be issued, with a maximum validity of 30 days, however, this facility is available only at the respective international airports of Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata. Also, this is primarily a single-entry facility.

For all practical purposes, Visa is issued only on the traveller’s passport and not on any other document. It is only in the case of Tibetan Nationals that the visa may be issued on Travel Documents.
The applicants are required to fill in all the fields given on the application form. In case some information is left out and/or the required documents are not presented, it may result in a delay, which will be the sole responsibility of the applicant. Incomplete or erratic forms, will neither be accepted nor processed.

The applicant’s passport must be valid for a minimum period of 190 days, and should have at least 2 blank pages for the authorities to affix the Visa sticker, and to enter the entry and exit information of the traveller.

The acceptance of the Visa Fee, do not in any given case, acts as a guarantee for the grant of Visa. The High Commission of India, and the Consulate General reserve all the right to delay or refuse the Visa, without being answerable.

In case of rejection, refusal, or withdrawal of the application form, the Visa Fee is not refundable.

After the Visa is granted, the admissibility of the traveller will be assessed by the immigration officer at the point of entry, and he holds the final right to refuse entry, if he doesn’t seem the traveller fit for the same.

Moreover, the Visa can be revoked by the Government at any point in time, without any liability to assign a reason and a traveller who is within India, can be asked to leave the country by the government.

As a general precaution, the applicants should not make any arrangements or payments regarding the travel and stay, before receiving the visa. The applicant must note the fact that the timeline with respect to the Indian Visa, starts right from the date of issue and will expire exactly after 180 days from this date.

Travellers need to ensure that they do not extend their stay in the country, after the expiration of their Visa.
For people travelling from Canada to India, vaccinations are not required. However, travellers coming through areas affected by the Yellow Fever are needed to carry a certificate of vaccination against the Yellow Fever. For travellers (aged 18 to 70 years), who wish to stay in India for a period extending one years, must also clear a test for AIDS

Two references, one Indian and one Canadian, must be provided who will be contacted in case of any emergency.
The applicant must ensure that the latest and complete details are provided on the Visa Form, so that the application centre might be able to communicate with them as and when required.

Requirements



• Duly filled online Visa application form, signed by the applicant.
• One recent passport size coloured photograph (51 mm x 51mm), with a full frontal view of the face on a white-background.
• A valid passport, with a minimum validity of 190 (6 Months) days along with two blank pages, in the same.
• Additional Form for Non-Canadian Nationals for people who do not hold a Canadian Passport.

Processing Time



A minimum of 15 days of time is required to get the Visa processed.
